Eden - Age of Asura

Eden - Age of Asura
Introduction

Year: 4250 AB (4,250 years After the Breaking )

Our story unfolds in the world of Eden ; a lush paradise of savage beauty, filled with both beings of legendary grace, power and majesty, as well as monsters who revel in savage cruelty. A land ruled by Dragons, those magical titans, revered by many as Gods, and where the fledgling races of Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Halfling are more often than not, chattel who live and die at the discretion of their masters.

It is a land that is alive with primal energy; where Magi tap into the very power of Creation itself to erect mighty cities and temples. It is also a land where that very same primal energy is bound to gear and cog to produce wondrous technology. In short, it is a land of almost limitless opportunity, for those with the will and strength to claim it.

Our journey begins during a time of uneasy peace; a civil war amongst the Dragonkin that threatened to tear asunder the very fabric of Eden society has recently come to a stalemate; a momentary cease-fire as both sides attempt to recoup their massive losses. They are divided into two primary factions: The Highborn, and the Guardians. Tentative trade and peace agreements are drafted, as both sides agree that if the theater of war is not changed, there will be little left to fight over.

However, as important as the conflict amongst the Dragonkin is to the rest of the world; Eden is a very big place. What path will our heroes take? Will they be mercenaries, who live only to fight for gold and power? Or perhaps they will be adventurers and explorers, looking to unearth secrets of ages long past? The possibilities are nearly limitless; only time will tell.

Welcome to Eden.

Session 1

Tremayre; ancient city and homeland to virtually all Dragonkin in Eden. Our story begins here, in the capital of the Dragon Empire, on a cool autumn day.

Abigailia’Creiddylad, Priestess of Tamara, has returned to the city of her birth after having spent most of her life wandering the outside world.

After a somewhat rocky entrance (certain guards were rebuked and will likely be more polite in the future prior to learning the identities of visitors to the city), she was nearly trampled by a giant of a Half Dragon, named Ulhar’svent’gix. An unusual sight, a Blue in the service of Bahamut as one of his Platinum Knights. Though perhaps this was a fated meeting.

After exchanging apologies, the two went on their separate ways. Abigailia traveled farther into the city, to the High Temple of Tamara, where she spent the evening in prayer, only to be approached by a young Half Dragon seeking assistance with a certain matter regarding the outcast faction, the Guardians of Eden.

Meanwhile, Ulhar traveled to a newer part of the city to begin his new assignment with the clandestine and enigmatic Holy Templars of Lendys , a faction of the Highborn dedicated to maintaining peace and order in the Empire. There he met his new Training Master and some of those he would be working with in the coming months. He also received his first assignment: infiltrating a group with alleged ties to the Guardians of Eden; there he would funnel any useful information back to the Templars and ingrain himself as much as possible into the dissenter’s inner circle.

After a few days time, both Ulhar and Abigailia attended a protest rally, secretly run by the organization with supposed ties to the Guardians of Eden; there, the two met again. Abigailia, seeking to possibly aid the Guardians; Ulhar, hoping to infiltrate their group to carry out his order’s mission of maintaining the peace. Shortly after the rally, the two were interviewed and subsequently offered an opportunity to help the Guardians’ cause by freeing a group of abused slaves being held outside the city. Will Abby find out that Ulhar is a spy? And how will Ulhar’s vows as a servant of Bahamut hold up when faced with the choice of loyalty to the Empire that he has sworn to protect, or defying his order and attacking those allied with the crown? Only time will tell.

Sessions 2

After a few days of preparation, Ulhar and Abbigail decided to scout the slave compound.

The facility was a small one, commanded by a large Red Half-Dragon, with a small retinue of 4 guards who were rotated on a regular basis. Seeing that the compound was currently lightly defended, Abby and Ulhar decided to take a closer look; Abby distracted one of the guards, while Ulhar scaled the wall. Closer inspection revealed the inner bailey was composed of two buildings; a barracks used to house the slaves, and a small building for officer’s quarters.

There was a guard eating near a fire pit as Ulhar entered the courtyard; fortunately for him, this was a dim-witted guard who was too intent on his food to pay much attention to his surroundings. Taking the opportunity to investigate further, Ulhar listened in at the door of the Commander’s quarters. Hearing the deep, grating sounds of snoring, Ulhar carefully entered the room in search of information.

Meanwhile, the guard whose attention Abby had managed to snare made the foolish decision that the risk was worth the reward when he attempted to capture the young female Half-Dragon and add her to his collection of slaves. She quickly showed him the error of his ways by blasting him with lightning and finishing him off with her mace.

Upon hearing the sounds of commotion in the courtyard; Ulhar decided to act preemptively, denying his foe a chance to call for backup and potentially overpower him; the young Blue blasted the sleeping commander with lightning, severely wounding him.

After subduing the remaining guards, Ulhar and Abby called for their allies to assist in relocating the slaves and bringing the slavers to justice; a simple scouting mission had turned into a full-scale rescue. Fortune favors the bold, or so they say.
